Marine Management

 

The objective of IOC marine management activities is to assist IOC Member States in their efforts to build marine scientific and technological capabilities in the field of integrated coastal management as follow up of UNCED, Agenda 21. The IOC strive to provide reliable marine scientific data, develop methodologies, help countries operationalize ecosystem-based management, disseminate information and build interdisciplinary capacity through symposia, workshops, seminars and training courses.

Integrated Coastal Area Management (ICAM) is an interdisciplinary activity where natural and social scientists, coastal managers and policy makers, in the long-term, focus on how to manage the diverse problems of coastal areas.

Web Link Coral Reef Monitoring Network

GCRMN works hard to improve management and conservation of coral reefs by providing manuals, equipment, databases, training, problem solving, and helps with finding funds for reef monitoring - all coordinated in a global network.

Helping countries implement ecosystem-based management by finding space for biodiversity conservation and sustainable economic development in marine environments.
