I am currently involved in a project
on sustainable use of marine resources in the southern seas of the Russian
Federation (Black Sea, Sea of Azov, and Caspian Sea). It specifically deals with analyzing
the current work done in the Russian Federation as regards to implementation of
the Sustainable Development Goal 14 (“Conserve and sustainably use the oceans,
seas and marine resources for sustainable development”), evaluation of indicators
and elaboration of recommendations for decision-makers that would help reach
the SDG 14 targets. I have researched international experience in reaching or working towards Goal
14. I am also very much interested in marine pollution and plastic pollution in
particular.
In 2015 I
submitted my Master’s dissertation on the impact of extreme weather events on
resilience of the fruit supply chain in the UK with a case study of the UK
apple supply chain, in cooperation with DEFRA – Department for the Environment,
Food and Rural Affairs in the UK. I did the “Marine Megafauna: Introduction to Marine Science
and Conservation” course at Duke University, US, then in March 2017 I finished
the training on “Minimization of the impact on marine mammals (IMO) from
exploration and development of offshore oil and gas basins in the Russian
Arctic”. I have contributed to several publications on the marine environment of the Black-Caspian
region and the Boka-Kotorska Bay in Montenegro.
