As the world approaches the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development, the need for data is stronger than ever before. Data stewardship and the right data and information technology or tools can be incredibly powerful in the design and realization of the sustainable goals.
This course will highlight the importance of ocean data stewardship in the decade of ocean science, introduce the cutting-edge ocean data management strategies, methods and tools, and share experience in ocean data and information technology development and application in China. Participants are encouraged to share policies and practices and technology of ocean data stewardship and data service in their countries and contribute their wisdoms to ocean data management and sharing in the future.
Aims and Objectives
- Share the latest development of ocean data stewardship methods and tools
- Introduce scenarios where ocean data and information technology are used to support sustainable development
- Inspire discussion on the role of ocean data in realizing the sustainable development goals for the ocean we want
Learning Outcomes
- Knowledge of the status and trends of international ocean data management
- Better understanding of the status and importance of ocean data in the context of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development
- Improved skills of integrated ocean data management and ocean information R&D
