Making waves for ocean science: Empowering women and girls in the Ocean Decade

Building on UNESCO’s efforts to mobilize the global community to engage women and girls in science, Fisheries and Ocean Canada and the Canadian Commission for UNESCO, jointly with the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission to host an online event titled “Making waves for the Ocean Science: Empowering women and girls in the Ocean Decade” (Feb 11, 2021 – 16H-17H30 CET).


This event will demonstrate the importance of peer networks and role models in fostering interest in women and girls to pursue careers in ocean science.

 

This event will be held to celebrate the 2021 International Day of Women and Girls in Science in the context of the Ocean Decade. It will be webcast live in English and French.
